    Description

Produced some decades ago, this little jewel of the art of knotting is an example of refinement and elegance, to which is added the charm of this rare and precious artefact from the past. The natural dye of the silk fibres gives a warm golden reflection to the admirably juxtaposed colours of the earth and sky; the multiple instances of gold embroidery confer a further extraordinary bright and iridescent effect.

The miḥrāb decoration – the miḥrāb is the niche in mosques that indicates the direction of Mecca – is traditionally used for prayer rugs. According to the precepts of Islam, you can pray wherever you are, provided the ground is delimited and pure, free from dirt. The rug fulfils this fundamental function by isolating a space between the earth and the faithful at prayer, and for this reason, it has gradually been enriched over the centuries with representative symbols of the spiritual and religious condition, transforming it into a true opening towards the higher reality. The lamp, always lit in places of worship, indicates the immortality of the divine principle.

This traditional motif, enhanced by a high set of cornices, here finds a perfect balance between the geometric and the floral that can make even the architectural elements seem light.

Double cartouche with signature and authentication into the short sides.
